We Have a New Registration Software
Union City Community & Recreation Services is moving to a new online registration program, Rec1, starting Winter/Spring 2017 session. This new software focuses on enhancing the customer experience by providing a 21st century solution to registration and account management online without any additional fees or surcharges! Customers will be able to search for programs and classes by ages, interests and locations, and the new system will electronically notify participants of class changes or cancellations through email or text.
Starting January 3, 2017, residents can register for programs, classes and camps, pay account balances, reprint receipts and maintain their family accounts online. Later in 2017, customers will also be able to view facility availability, request park reservations, re-new memberships and access team information for adult sports leagues.
As we make the transition to our new Rec1 registration system, some customers may need to create a new account either online through the UnionCity.org website or at one of the community center offices. We encourage customers to go online, explore the new registration system, and verify if your account is already active. This can be done by searching with your current phone number, e-mail or full name. If you cannot locate your account, you will need to create a new one either online or through a community center office.

Union City's award-winning Community & Recreation Services department provides recreation to the entire community. Recently honored by the California Park and Recreation Society, we operate the Holly Community Center, Kennedy Community Center, Ruggieri Senior Center, Sports Center, Teen Center, Teen Workshop and, in the summer, the Dan Oden Swim Complex.
We offer a wide variety of programs designed to meet the needs of children, teens, adults and seniors in our community. Programs include fee classes; summer, winter and spring day camps; after school middle school programs; youth sports; aquatics; arts; tot time; senior lunches; community gardens; volunteer recruitment and special needs programs for people with physical and mental disabilities.

2017 SUMMER JOB ANNOUNCEMENTS
Applications are now being accepted for the following temporary, seasonal positions with the Union City Community & Recreation Services Department. Deadline to apply for most positions is FRIDAY, APRIL 7, 2017.
Deadline to apply for most positions is FRIDAY, APRIL 7, 2017. Any unfilled positions will stay open until filled. Interviews for all positions will be conducted during the months of April and May. Applicants will be required to attend pre-summer training and orientation. Summer positions begin in June and end in August. In addition to any specific qualifications, all positions will require fingerprinting; a current TB test; and be in possession of CPR, AED & First Aid certifications by first day of employment.
GENERAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: All positions require certain physical abilities which may include occasional to frequent standing, sitting, walking, reaching, twisting, turning, kneeling, bending, squatting, stooping, running and climbing in the performance of daily activities, as well as the ability to withstand working in an outdoor environment with exposure to sun, dust, wind, pollen and vegetation. Positions may also require physical coordination, repetitive movements, and the ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.

First STEPS To A Great Summer
Go online and set up your family account on the new REC1 registration system between March 1 – 13, 2017. Link: https://secure.rec1.com/CA/union-city-community-and-recreation-services/catalog Include your email address, phone numbers, all of your family members and t-shirt sizes! When finished, send an email to LSHollyCenter@unioncity.org with a message saying “I am ready for summer”. You will then be sent an email on Tuesday, March 14 (the day prior to Early Bird Camp Sign Up Night) with the Day Camp information and calendars including field trips. Plan out your child’s summer in the comforts of your home, so you can be prepared to ask questions, meet the camp leaders, visit the Special Interest Camp contractors, and register at Early Bird Camp Sign Up Night!
Attend Camp Sign Up Night at Holly Community Center on Wednesday, March 15, from 6 pm – 8 pm! Union City residents will be allowed to register in person that evening. Non-residents can drop off their completed registration forms for processing after resident registration is completed. Receipts will be emailed approximately 2 weeks after Camp Sign Up Night.
We will not be offering Kids Sports Camp (ages 5-7) this summer, as the Kennedy Community Center will be under construction. We have increased the number of campers this summer for Camp Hedgehog (ages 5 – 7). Sports Camp and Rec-n-Crew Teen Camp, as well as extended care, will be moved to the William May Teen Center at the opposite end of the park.
In order to speed up the lines and minimize the wait to register, we will NOT be accepting registration for extended care at Early Bird Night. Extended care will be open for online and in person registration starting April 17, and parents can register for extended care up until 1 week before camp begins. We will accommodate size of extended care based on the total registration for each camp, so please do not worry about it becoming full.
Highlights of Early Bird Registration Night:
If you register for 6 or more weeks per child, you will receive $5 off each week of camp.
If you register for 10 weeks (all summer) per child, you will receive an additional $5 off each week of camp.
You will receive a “Camp Passport” that you must fill out and we will have a raffle drawing at the end of Early Bird Night which will award a lucky child 1 FREE week of camp this summer!
All Union City resident camp registrations will be processed first, non-resident registration will be accepted but processed after all resident Early Bird registration is completed.
Payment plans are also available! Register each child for 6 or more weeks and you will be eligible to participate in the payment plan. The first payment will be due at Camp Sign Up Night and will be a little more than half as the final payment in June will have your discount applied. The remaining payment will be due the last week of June.
