Reduce, Reuse, Recycle

Whether you live, work, study or play in Union City,  there are a number of ways you can reduce, reuse, and recycle. Click on the links on this page for information and tips on how you can reduce your waste and help protect our planet.

Weekly collection of garbage, yard waste and recyclable materials is mandatory in Union City. Republic Services and Tri-CED Community Recycling are the city's exclusive franchised haulers.

 Residential Garbage and Recycling

Most Union City households are provided with three carts: a 35-gallon blue garbage cart, a 64-gallon brown recycling cart, and a 96-gallon organics cart. Find out more about Residential Garbage and Recycling here.

Commercial Garbage and Recycling

By recycling and reducing the amount that goes into your trash bin, you can save money on waste disposal bills. Thanks to single stream recycling, all recyclables go in the same container, which eliminates the need for sorting. Restaurants and other generators of food scraps can also take advantage of discounted rates by participating in the Food Scrap Recycling for Business Program. Find out more about commercial solid waste, recycling and composting services here.

Construction and Demolition (C&D)

Construction projects subject to the C&D Ordinance are required to divert construction materials from the landfill. See the Construction and Demolition Debris Recycling page here
